Opening an NPS account is simple and straightforward. Currently, you can only open Tier I and individual NPS accounts on Upstox. Your basic details will be automatically fetched from your Demat account with Upstox.


Here are the steps you have to follow to open an NPS account: 

1. Log in to your Upstox account and from the ‘Upstox for investors’ mode go to the 'More' section. Then, under the 'Tax' section, select 'NPS'

2. Enter the amount you plan to contribute to your NPS investment

3. Select a plan based on your risk preference

4. On clicking ‘Continue’, you will be redirected to the Explore section, where you can review the top NPS funds tailored to your plans

5. Click on the NPS fund you wish to invest in to view all the details. Then, simply click on 'Invest Now' to proceed

6. Enter the amount to invest and click on ‘Continue’

7. Next, you will need to add nominee details. If your nominee details already exist on Upstox, they will be automatically fetched for NPS

Next, you need to specify the share percentage for each nominee. You can add up to three nominees at once

On the next screen, review the nominee details. If everything is correct, click 'Continue'. If you need to make any changes, click 'Edit Nominee Details'

8. Review your details and contribution amount, then click on ‘Continue to invest’

9. To make your NPS payment, simply click on the preferred payment mode provided

 

10. After placing the order, you'll receive a confirmation message, and the contribution will be processed

11. Track the status of your order through the Upstox platform

12. You can check the orders under Portfolio > Your Portfolio

Note: Upstox will charge ₹200 + 18% GST to open your NPS account
