The following are the definitions of different terms you will see on the 'Funds/Wallet' page:
1) Available to Trade
The ‘Available to Trade’ balance is updated any of the following occurs:
- You deposit funds into your Upstox account.
- You request a withdrawal, and it is processed by our back-office team.
- You place a trade order in the market.
2) Margin Used
The ‘Margin Used ’ reflects the funds used for trading from your available balance. This may happen in the following scenarios:
- Buying stock in the Equity Delivery segment.
- Buying or short-selling stock in the Equity Intraday segment.
- Trading Futures & Options (Intraday or Delivery).
- Carrying forward an open position for Futures or Options (on the short side).
When you sell a delivery position, the receivable amount appears as a negative ‘Margin Used.’ This occurs when:
- You sell stock in the Equity Delivery segment (from your Demat account).
- You sell a position (on the buy-side) in the Options segment.
3) Total Margin
Total Margin is the sum of the following:
- Cash Margin
- Margin Used
- Collateral Margin
- Unsettled Profits
This amount is updated when any of the following occurs:
- You deposit or withdraw funds.
- You place a trade order.
- You pledge your shares for collateral margin.
- You sell your holdings.
4) Collateral Margin
Collateral Margin is the additional margin available for trading or investing when you pledge securities held in your Demat account. This margin is used for trading in the Futures & Options (F&O) segment, Liquid Bees ETFs, and pledged equity stocks.
5) Cash Margin
Cash Margin is the margin available for trading in the following scenarios:
- When you add or withdraw funds from Upstox.
- After you sell your position or holdings, the margin is added to the cash margin according to the settlement cycle.
6) Unsettled Profits
Unsettled Profits refer to the profits you are due to receive from stocks sold or profits made. These profits fluctuate based on your trading positions and market conditions.
- Unsettled profits apply to all segments.
- Funds that are not settled cannot be withdrawn. Withdrawals are only possible when the amount is settled.
- The settlement cycle is T+1 for all segments.
