Note: You can only transfer funds from banks that are registered with Upstox.
If your UPI or Net Banking transaction has failed, don't worry! The amount will be refunded to your bank account. Below is a list of common reasons for payment failure and the steps you can take to resolve them.
Common UPI Payment Failures:
- Bank account is blocked: Contact your bank for further assistance.
- Mismatch between UPI app account and trading account: Ensure the bank account linked in your UPI app matches the one registered with Upstox.
- Banking system is offline: Try again after some time when the banking system is online.
- Inactive or dormant beneficiary account: Check with your bank to activate the account.
- Incorrect PIN entered: Make sure you enter the correct PIN.
- Invalid VPA (Virtual Payment Address): Verify the VPA in your UPI app and enter the correct one.
- Exceeded maximum PIN retries: Wait 24 hours and try again, or use another payment method like NEFT/RTGS/IMPS.
- Mobile number registered with multiple customers: Try another payment method such as NEFT/RTGS/IMPS.
- Payment failed at the PSP (Payment Service Provider): Try using a different UPI app to initiate the payment.
- Exceeded UPI transaction limit: UPI has a transaction limit; ensure you haven't exceeded the daily limit.
- UPI request expired: Complete the payment within 10 minutes of initiation.
- Issue with the UPI app: Try another UPI app or payment method.
- Validation failure at the bank or wallet gateway: Try using a different payment method like NEFT/RTGS/IMPS.
- Account linked with multiple names: Try another payment method.
- Payment processing failed Try using an alternative payment method.
- Payment rejected by the customer: Ensure you approve the payment request and try again.
- Registered mobile number changed/removed: Update your mobile number with your bank.
- Transaction declined by the beneficiary: Approve the transaction request and try again.
- Transaction not permitted: Contact your bank if your account is frozen or if third-party validation is preventing the transaction.
Common Net Banking Payment Failures:
- Pending from Bank: Once the transaction is confirmed by your bank, the amount will be credited to your Upstox wallet. If not, it will be refunded within 24–48 working hours.
- Insufficient Account Balance: Ensure your account has sufficient funds to complete the transaction.
- Cancelled Payment: If you canceled the payment, initiate the transfer again.
- Payment Failure: If the payment fails at the bank or payment gateway level, try again or use a different payment method.
- Payment Gateway Timeout: Retry the transaction by re-submitting the details.
- System Error: Check for technical issues or use alternative payment methods.
- Payment Request Timeout: If the payment was not completed in time, initiate it again.
- Account Disabled: Contact your bank to enable your account, or update your primary bank account with Upstox.
- Invalid Account Details: Retry the transaction with the correct details.
